Announcements: Changes in the Wind

otto is about to undergo some major changes in its life:  A totally new and exciting format that will include color graphics of original art and photography, and a whole new concept in presentation.  It will also be changing to an annual issue, and will be making its debut in all its new glory in April, 2007.

We're excited about this growth and the new staff that will expand it to bring out its fullest potential!

Updates will be forthcoming.

Can't Hold the Presses!

otto #3 has been "put to bed" I believe they say; meaning it's at the printer's.

This is an exciting issue in content.  We have some great fiction and poetry, but we have a couple of new hypertext ideas presented and some terrific original artwork.

otto will be undergoing some major changes and growth by the Fall/Winter 2006 issue.  With an increase in staff, full color printing capabilities, expansion into the narrative of graphic images both reproduced original and computer-generated, and a growing pool of resources in talent we will see quite a change in format and circulation.  As otto matures into an adult version of cultural and informational adventure, its proud parents look back to its conception and try to imagine just what the infusion of technology and creative forces will produce.

In the meantime, check back for some taste of otto #3 in an upcoming post.

Change of Plans

Great news!  While the plans for the reinvention of otto into a slicker looking magazine that will add in coverage of arts and sciences to the literary format, it seems wise to meet deadline with an April 5th issue while the time needed to form a team and work on changes are in progress.

So get those stories, poems, essays (see guidelines) in ASAP if you want to be included in the Spring/Summer issue of otto #3!  But we're working with a real tight deadline, so please e-mail at least your intentions of submission to help us plan it out.  Thanks--we look forward to publishing your work!

Announcements: Production Meeting

There will be a meeting of those interested in developing the potential of otto by serving on the editorial staff, scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd at 2:30 in the Tunxis CC cafeteria.

It was decided to gear the Spring/Summer issue towards the capabilities of the new color printer, and therefore, otto #3 will not be available for the Writers Festival in April, but will hopefully be published soon after.

OTTO is Moving!

otto has moved to its new home here at http://ottolit.typepad.com/otto, and if you got here via the old site, then you follow directions better than I do.

The site has already been set up, although I'm still tweaking with colors and format, but please do change your Bookmarks or Favorites as well as the link on your own weblogs to reflect this transition, as all new postings will be made at this new site.

Just one small step for (wo)man, one biggie for little otto in what will be a special year for him as we explore all paths of creative input, output, and distribution.

Happy New Year to all, and we wish you a year of good health and happiness and special moments that fill every day of your lives.

As the Year Winds Down...

2005 was the year otto was born, and he's leaped ahead with two issues under his bib. But that's just a start, because 2006 will see some big changes and growth.

For one thing, we'll be moving this site to a Typepad Account over the next week to have it hopefully set up by January 1st. Notice will be made as soon as the transfer is completed.

otto's second year as a literary journal will be an exciting one. The Spring/Summer issue will be out in April to coincide with the 2006 Tunxis Writers Festival where it was introduced this past year. We're also planning to include some new things such as more graphic images and artwork, as well as graphic fiction and hyperfiction.

We're actively seeking submissions right now, as the issue will be laid out in February and early March for final editing and printing. An updated submission guideline will be available shortly, but we do have the current one linked here on the site. All submissions can be sent via e-mail to ottolit@comcast.net, and please put "Submission" in the subject line. We will contact you within two or three weeks of acceptance, and note any suggested changes if necessary.

We look forward to otto's continued success and expansion in the coming year, and take this time to also wish you all a Happy Holiday Season!

OTTO #2 Now Available

A minor technological problem holding up the distribution of otto #2, but there is a limited number of copies now available and these will be mailed or handed out to contributors and given to the Tunxis Bookstore for sale as well as available to Narratives members at the meeting and for sale at this website as well as selected others. (Notification due shortly.) In the meantime, you may order your copy by e-mailing us at ottolit@comcast.net for $5.00 plus $1.50 mailing fee. And as always, submissions for otto #3 with a publication date of April 1st, 2006 are currently being solicited and welcome.

otto #2

While I had planned the fall/winter issue for October as the more proper timing for the semi-annual publication (spring/summer is geared to come out at the time of the Tunxis Writers Conference in April), I was hoping for a mid-month completion.

However, John Timmons assures me that it is in the printing process and I should be able to pick it up, bind it, and have it out this coming week. It is a full issue with loads of very diverse story in fiction, poetry and essay forms. We would hope that the next issue will include some new media style experiments along with graphic story and we are already planning for spring and the Writers Festival which would be a perfect time to debut these innovations in literary journalism.

otto #2 will be available at the Narratives meeting on November 7th, at the Tunxis Bookstore, and online at various websites to be announced. Cover price is $5.00.

More will be forthcoming on content (perhaps a short story and poem available online) next week. Check this site for information.
